How to style your kitchen like a property stylist

If you're like most people, your kitchen and bench probably serves as an area for mail, keys, and other miscellaneous items. With a little effort, you can transform your kitchen into a stylish workspace that inspires you to cook and feel proud of. We list 4 ways you can style your kitchen like a property stylist!

Create layers.

A key element of our kitchen styling is adding different layers to create a story in the vignettes we design.

Start with a chopping board of your choice to create the back bone. This can be wood, marble or even decorative.

Next add in your favourite cook book (ideally one with a neutral cover or that has the same colour tones as your kitchen to seamlessly blend in).

Following on, add some canisters to the arrangement, either a few of the same height to create balance, or of different size to contrast.

Lastly, include salt and pepper shakers for easy access while cooking.

Keep it low.

A go-to arrangement of ours when styling for a kitchen bench is to keep it low in height to allow the kitchen features behind to truly shine.

A low, but still impactful fruit stand with accompanying details adds to the overall lifestyle story the kitchen and home embodies.

Be mindful of the colour tones in the surrounding space to tie in these together to create a cohesive look.

Add greenery.

A beautiful vase of fresh greenery brings life, colour, and a visual interest to your kitchen bench, while also creating a bright and inviting entry.

We sometimes choose to use a tall vase of greenery to style when the bench is the first element to be seen when entering the room, there is a clear canvas behind the vase, and the home has high ceilings.

Consider your vase choice - A neutral coloured vase like white or cream can easily slot into any style and colour kitchen. While clear glass vases always act as an elegant statement piece to display your florals in.

Don’t forget the kitchen sink.

Remember that your kitchen bench is a functional workspace. Placing a hand soap and moisturiser duo directly by the sink is not only a nice way to spruce up an otherwise boring area, but your hands will thank you for it too!

Remember to have fun and experiment with different combinations of items until you find a look that works for you!
