How to prepare for home styling

Planning to have your home professionally styled? The Home Style Co team lists 4 easy tips to help make the process smoother and stress free for not only yourself, but your stylists too!

  1. Declutter.

Before the stylist arrives, it's important to declutter your space and remove any personal items.
This will make it much easier for the stylist to work with your space and showcase your home's best features.

  1. Clear the bathroom vanity of any toothbrushes etc, and remove bath towels from railings.

  2. Put away personal cushions or rugs in the cupboard ready for the stylist to dress your bed.

  3. Store away kitchen items like toasters, chopping boards, and coffee makers to prepare a clear space for the team.

2. Clean surfaces.

Cleaning kitchen and bathroom surfaces can make the world of difference when having a styling team enter your home and the count down is on to photoshoot time.

There is nothing worse than madly scrubbing the kitchen bench and racing to wipe down the bathroom vanity while styling is being installed and the photographer is on their way. A simple wipe down is greatly appreciated for not only show purposes, but also hygienic reasons.

3. Have your phone ready to snap photos.

If you are still currently living in the home while your sales campaign is online, we strongly suggest taking photos of how we have set up each room to easily replicate for open inspections over the coming weeks.

From how to tuck in the throw over bed linen, to chopping cushions, and placing dining table decor, having reference photos makes it much easier to reproduce so your home is quickly open inspection ready!

4. Make sure the backyard isn’t neglected.

Pre cleaning or tidying the backyard free of leaves or dirt creates a seamless installation for the styling team to create and place outdoor furniture zones and style with accessories.

Complete this task before the truck arrives early in the morning, or if the weather is clear - the night before!

This is another important task that is cruical for the flow of installation and if left to the last minute, can hold up the styling team and furthermore delay photography.

Making sure these simple tasks are completed before the styling team arrives makes a world of difference for not only your to-do list, but also the installation process for the team that much quicker and easier!

Your stylists will be sincerely grateful for your efforts, and will allow you to feel ready and relaxed for your home to be photographed and published online ready for sale!
